Mountain lions in Ulster County???
« on: February 29, 2012, 10:07:27 AM »
Hi all-

I live in the Plattekill area and with the last two weeks I have heard of 2 different "large" cat sightings. Two were in the town of Modena and one in Plattekill. Has anybody on here actually seen a Mountain Lion in Ulster county??? My brother had swore he seen one in New Paltz about two years ago and I told him he was nuts. Also what if Im out Spring turkey hunting And i see a cat approaching do I run or shoot???? lol Is it illegal to shot one in NYS.

Thanks fellas and heres to health , wealth and Big Bucks!!!

Kind of like shooting a unicorn.  I'd love to see the government try to prosecute someone for shooting an animal they say doesn't exist in this area.

Never seen one but heard of sightings. Had a Greene co. forest ranger ask me if I ever seen one, not sure why. All I know is when sitting in the woods whether turkey hunting or calling coyotes I always have my back against a tree. You never know. Trail cams are in most of our arsenals so I think some pictures would have shown up.

Thats a bad day of turkey hunting...!!
was the coyote positive for rabies or are preventative shots that expensive?

Can see a ranger saying "OH CHIT! OH CHIT! MAN I'm IN TROUBLE NOW!

On a side note a guy I know says a DEC released a pair years ago upstate.Says a Ranger he knew told him.Dunno with all the trail cams and people putting out food to get pictures I think a few pictures would have been gotten already.
I quit smoking bring on hunting season I need to kill chit

You can shoot something in self defense.
