Fished Saturday afternoon at north/south lake.  4 pickerel on tipups.  couldn't get anything jigging.
10" of ice.
Gino, thanks for stopping by while you were walking off the ice. Nice to finally meet a fellow HVS member!

Good weekend up at N/S Lake. 10". Saturday was slow, my friend and I only managed 5 short picks, a small largemouth, one yellow & a pumpkinseed. Lots of marks but not feeding. Yesterday was the opposite with plenty of active yellows & seeds, short picks & this good 22"er (thanks for the pic Dave!). Saw plenty of nice largemouth pulled up yesterday as well.

Carl, Eddy & Larry it was nice meeting all of you this weekend!  :D (beers)

Checked Chodikee & Berean Park in Highland last night and only 2.5". Will check Louisa on Wednesday.

If anyone has any specific safe bodies of water to report in Ulster/Sullivan County, please feel free to post or PM me.

Definitely, picks are delicious if you can handle the bones.
I use an HT InstaShack (2-3 ppl) on cold days, but mostly just to warm up in with the heater between hole hopping, although if I know a consistent spot I'll set it up and just jig inside. Clam's are much better for the mobile ice fisherman.

What learned about pickerel is don't keep big ones to eat keep the ones just keeper sized and cook very well the bones practically disappear

I don't use an ice shanty.  I move around a lot so I don't think it would be practical for me.

BTW.  I was just at White Pond.  4" of the clearest black ice you will ever see.

I have a clam kenai and itís perfect for moving around a lot, as I do very much. Have a Big Buddy heater and it gets nice and toasty in there. Just flip it down and move to the next spot.
Spud your way and stay on top.
