Yes. Right next to the dam on Pond Road. Enough parking for maybe 3-5 cars?

At this point the only legal access to Yankeetown Pond is via DEP property, i.e., through the woods. A woman named Erin Moran managed to take control of much of the property around the pond, including the dam area, and forbids access to the pond through her property.  She regularly calls the police to have people removed from boating, ice skating and fishing via "her" property.

I guess you could go down to the dam and see if that old access site has been posted. If you don't see signs I don't see why you couldn't go on. But if not, this map shows the DEP land adjacent to the pond that would be good-to-go as far as legal access.

oh its even better it was done with an inside deal with the Woodstock town clerk she was able to buy the land where the access was via quick claim deed cause her friend was the clerk and told her no one had paid taxes or claimed that area
, but to be honest I live about a mile from the pond you are not missing much fishing there threw out the years has declined and the algae growth in the summer makes the road so rank its even hard to drive by

Is there a parking area or trail down to the pond on DEP land?

no you need to park just east of the Wittenberg sportsman's club  on Wittenberg Rd and access down thru the dep wooded lot, you must park on side of rd and make sure you have your DEP sticker, there is no main trail down to the pond

There is a designated parking area marked on the DEP map:  http://www.nyc.gov/html/dep/pdf/maps/Yankeetown_Pond.pdf

I'd estimate the parking is .6-.7 miles SE of Wittenberg Sportsmens Club.

griz, there is access about 200 yards down from the club the dep has a little strip in-between houses that would prb be easier access than half mile down the rd
